Hi
Alastair,
It was great talking with you today! You truly are
an ardent Historian.
I have been researching my family for the past 6
years, and seriously for the last three of those
years because I have been enjoying retirement.
As one traces back through the generations
information gets harder and harder to locate. Going
back the first four generations to my great
grandfather wasn’t too difficult because it began in
1859 when John Henry Ruddell was born in Nelson
County Ontario. He married a lady named Francis
Grummet who was also born in Canada.
The generation before that was much more difficult,
because those people; George Ruddell and
Christina-Christiana Stewart were born in the old
world.
I have two roadblocks at the moment that I am
puzzling away to solve. That is to locate with
certainty the parents of George Ruddell, who were
John Ruddell and Ann Mann from Armagh County
Northern Ireland; and the parents of Christina, who
I believe were Donald Stewart and Ann-Jessie Fraser
who were both from the area around Inverness.
I am hoping that I can further my connection to
Donald and Jessie Fraser by using the resources that
Electric Scotland brings me. It’s just how to do
that….
I have included a couple of little stories that I
wrote to pass on to future generations to give them
a sense of family history.
I look forward to our next chat!
Harvey Ruddell
