Page 10

We are now taking you to the lower town of Quebec, le quartier St. Roch. This neighourbood,15 years ago, was saved by concerned and organized citizens from decrepitude. It has since been revitalized. This is the real center of Quebec and the  only place you get the real flavor of modern Quebec. And where you can practice your French. 90% of tourists never see this fascinating area. ElectricCanadian brings it to you.

St.Joseph street ,the main commercial artery in the Lower Town. Once almost abandoned than covered with a very ugly roof, it is now restored to its original splendour. Here you find unique and quality shops without the absurd prices of the tourist area in the Upper Town.

This is the central library where you can spend a rainy day and never get bored.

In the core of the city, the gorgeous St. Roch park, the ambitious project which launched the restoration process.

Quebec has over 100 km. of paved bicycle paths which take you past the central Market. Families can get lodging and food at half the price they could find in the upper tourist core.
