As a child who was raised by his maternal grandmother, Wes was challenged with heartbreaking adversity during his early years. Growing up in a tin shack in rural Jamaica, Wes moved to Canada at a young age and set himself on a route for a better life.

While Wes had set himself on a path of work and education, life for certain of his family members that had made the journey to Canada was difficult. One of his half-brothers was deported to Jamaica after several drug-related arrests and another was found dead in a dumpster, the victim of a gangland-style slaying. Throughout this, Wes’ commitment to his family remained strong.

Through his continued drive and determination, Wes began to move up the corporate ladder at various companies and eventually launched his own firm, working to become one of the most influential business people in Canada.
